More than 42 years after Apollo 16 left the moon space collectors can finally celebrate another FLOWN TO THE MOON cover - China's Chang'e 5-T1 flown covers !

Chang'e 5-T1  is an experimental unmanned lunar mission that was launched on 23 October 2014 by the China National Space Administration to conduct atmospheric re-entry tests on the capsule design planned to be used in the Chang'e 5 mission. Like its predecessors, the spacecraft is named after the Chinese Moon goddess Chang'e.

The eight-day, 840,000 kilometer mission saw the experimental spacecraft loop around the far side of the Moon before returning home.

While the Soviet Union performed the last similar mission with Zond 8 in the 1970s, China has become only the third country to manage the feat of returning a craft from the Moon to Earth.

As opposed to the much larger Shenzhou capsules the Chang'e 5 capsule is much smaller, and only 400-500 covers therefore are believed to have flown on this historic Chinese lunar flight. This cover is a limited edition of 50 covers only issued by BITT. It comes with a steel embossed notarized stamp on cover and COA issued by a public Beijing notary like always done for all flown Chinese covers housed in an attractive large oversized folder.

The notarized COA matches the serial number of the cover (0043) and also has a copy of the cover included in the back - it doesn't get any better !<BR>

Only very few covers and certainly much less than of any other flown Chinese covers have made it to the market outside of China. With an estimated 8000 space collectors in China alone and many more interested in Chinese postal history this is a true gem.

After Apollo 11,13,14,15 and 16 this is only the 6th spaceflight that carried covers to the moon and back - a historic cover.
