These 3 costumes depict NASA flight suits and jumpsuits used in some of spaceflight’s most iconic missions and eras:

1. Blue NASA Flight Suit

NASA’s astronauts typically wear the iconic blue jumpsuit during training sessions and public appearances. This is the standard uniform for astronauts while not performing specific mission duties, much like deck wear for a sailor. The royal blue color is often associated with a reference to Earth’s nickname of “The Blue Marble,” the title of one of the earliest photos taken of the Earth from Apollo 17.

2. Space Shuttle Launch and Entry Suit

Space Shuttle Launch and Entry Astronaut Costume - Adult - The Space Store

This astronaut costume, modeled after the iconic NASA “launch and entry suit,” available in adult and children sizes, is a perfect way to dress like astronauts from recent history. For shuttle missions in the 80s and 90s, NASA used orange suits to make it easier to recover astronauts from ocean waters, where capsules were often designed to land.

Known also as the “pumpkin suit” because of its orange color, the launch and entry suit was the standard uniform for Space Shuttle crew members from 1988 to 1994.

3. White EVA Space Suit

Full Astronaut 5 Piece Suit (White) - Size 8/10 - The Space Store

This five-piece astronaut spacewalk set is based on the suits used in the International Space Station. Astronauts tend to wear exclusively white suits for extravehicular missions, or spacewalks, because the light color is easily visible against the backdrop of space and because white doesn’t soak up too much of the sun’s powerful radiation.

Of course, if you’re stepping out to the cold vacuum of space for a spacewalk, you can’t forget your spacesuit helmet! This junior astronaut helmet features a boom mic, a functioning, spring-loaded face shield, and working buttons with sound effects. No astronaut is complete without a helmet!

With a selection of astronaut helmets, boots, flight suits, and gear, cosplay as your
