Apollo Era Simulant for Space Suit Abrasion Testing
This presentation contains both Lunar and Martian Simulant used by NASA's Crew and Thermal Systems Division for establishing comparative abrasion wear between various space suit outer layer fabrics.
The Lunar simulant was mined in Arizona's Black Lava Flow and the Martian Simulant came from the Monaro Volcano in Hawaii. Only small amounts of this simulant remain today.
