Ordinary lead is quite cheap, but this lead is lab refined to at least 100 times the purity of industrial grade lead, 99.95%.
Despite being cheap, and as in the case with other soft metals, lead is a challenging material to form into a precise cube. Each cube receives special care in grinding and handling to avoid damaging its soft surfaces and is what ultimately accounts for a higher than expected cost.
Now you can own a 10mm cube of lead, with a weight of 11.3 +/- .1g.
