Space Shuttle Endeavour - Flown Thermal Blanket

This fragment of the Flown Thermal Blanket from the Space Shuttle Endeavour was used as part of the Thermal Control System and helped the ship withstand an increase in temperature as it reentered Earth’s atmosphere.

This blanket was applied to protect internal components and systems and is multi-layered containing a layer of aluminized Kapton foil, a layer of fibrous bulk material and possibly fragments from the Dacron net separator material.

Each 1x1cm hand-cut sample is housed in an acrylic jar and ships in a glass topped Riker box. A small information card is included as a certificate of authenticity. Due to all thermal blanket specimens looking similar, they are individually marked on the bottom of the jar to prevent confusion within multiple samples.
